Roy Diblik
Roy’s question has been and continues to be how he moves from the awareness of plants living within their naturally inherent, healthy lifestyles to a genuine presence and practice of growing plants and designing plant communities that will flourish from youth into maturity, living well into the planting’s future and sharing that knowledge with others.

Roy believes the nature of nature is always dynamic.   That the only right thing to do is stay curious within its beauty.

A planting should begin with a smart, healthy, plant driven approach and that a garden’s final moment

occurs when the possibilities for the garden disappear.

Roy’s knowledge of plants comes from the plants themselves and the knowledgeable people he’s come to know.

Without their knowledge of place, plants and practices he not would understand the context of the planted world.

He is clear that coming to know plants and people is essential to create healthy, long lived plantings.

Whatever your gardening goals may be, the healthiest results come from plant knowledge which supports healthy plant communities designed with creative composition.

There are many ways for a planting to decline. The main ones are poor plant composition; selecting and placing plants with a lack of plant knowledge followed by customary gardening practices and using inappropriate tools.

Roy Diblik’s The Know Maintenance Perennial Garden

We’ve all seen gorgeous perennial gardens packed with color, texture, and multi-season interest. Designed by a professional and maintained by a crew, they are aspirational bits of beauty too difficult to attempt at home. Or are they?

The Know Maintenance Perennial Garden makes a design-magazine-worthy garden achievable at home. The new, simplified approach is made up of hardy, beautiful plants grown on a 10x14 foot grid. Each of the 62 garden plans combines complementary plants that thrive together and grow as a community. They are designed to make maintenance a snap. The garden plans can be followed explicitly or adjusted to meet individual needs, unlocking rich perennial landscape designs for individualization and creativity.
